Early Childhood: Social-Emotional Development

At ages 3-6 years old, children are able to use words to express how they feel for example, "I'm mad" or "I'm sad" they start to take turns and starts to play with other peers. They start to show more empathy and are aware of other feelings. They begin to manage their emotions with guidance (taking deep breaths or ask for help.) Their language starts to increase by speaking in full sentences, tells simple stories, able to follow 2-3 step directions, their vocabulary starts to expand more. Cognitively, they start to engage more in imaginative play, understands counting, sorting, recognizes the basic shapes, letters and numbers. They start to ask a lot of questions. For their physical development, they are able to hop, skip, and climb. They are able to use scissors, crayons with better control. They are able to undress and dress independently. They have better balance.
